Hook size depends on your bait and target species. For channel catfish with cut bait, a 5/0 to 7/0 circle hook works well. For flatheads with live bait, go 8/0 to 10/0. For inshore saltwater species, 3/0 to 5/0 covers most situations. Atko Beast Slayer circle hooks are available in sizes from 1/0 to 10/0.
Circle hooks are designed to rotate and set in the corner of the fish's mouth as the fish swims away, which dramatically reduces gut hooking and improves fish survival.
